Then-topical episode(1981) about what the future would hold for us all of course is unavoidably dated now, with certain predictions(like normal passenger space travel for instance...) sadly off the mark, though one interviewee hit the target: that computers would become a huge force in the lives of people, which is certainly true! Technology as well looks dated, but viewer must keep in mind that this was cutting-edge stuff back then, so some lenience in viewing is required. Certainly, such speculation now may look just as dated in 30 years, so all things are relative. Regardless, this episode is still an entertaining time capsule.

Future life is the just okay episode. I love the predictions for the future from 1981! The interviews from experts were okay. The computer experts were dead on about the explosion of computer technology! Tech advances about chips hardwired into people surprisingly true. The space experts, which is always a topic, came across as lame. Actually Future life episode makes the people and society look cleaner back in 1981 than today. With all the dysfunction and conflict of today's society, I wish we could go to outer space! The future city looks like today's mall designs. The renewable energy ideas are about the same as 2017. Big idea concept with little practical or industrial use. Funny how the problems of over population and identity, political religious etc conflicts over and ever smaller planet was never addressed. Lackluster and going through the motions episode. Missing some of the energy and imagination of previous seasons. Still good but the final season was winding down. c plus episode.

In Search Of... "Future Life" (1981)
Coming after a few very good to excellent episodes, this one here comes across rather dull and lifeless. Yes, lifeless even though this is about future life. That future life mainly takes a look at computers and how they might one day be a major factor in life. Of course, viewing this episode today makes you realize that they were correct yet you have to wonder if they excepted as much as we have today via electronics. There's also some talk about the extended life but of course that hasn't happened yet. Fans of the show will probably find this episode mildly entertaining but if you're new to the series then you'd be better off starting somewhere else.
