The Lost City
AaronCapenBanner23 September 2014
Did the fabled lost city/continent of Atlantis ever really exist, or was it the product of an over-active imagination blown out-of proportion by constant retelling? Informative episode details how 14 stone structures were discovered underwater in the Bahamas, and how scientists and oceanographers discover their true origins and meaning. Also profiled is reputed psychic Edgar Cayce, who predicted its imminent discovery, as well as the end date of World War II, JFK's assassination, among other historical facts. Done in much the same style as 'The Bermuda Triangle', and though not quite a classic, is still entertaining.

Inspired by The Man from Atlantis

Warning: Spoilers
This episode debuted just two months after The Man from Atlantis debuted which starred Patrick Duffy in the title role. One would like to think that Atlantis at one time really existed with its high tech world and advance technology and so on.

I saw this episode on social media thankfully and the opening music was quite chilling especially with the photo of Amelia Earhart whose final resting place is a mystery to this day.

So this episode seemed to conclude Atlantis existed, as in historical fact, but we'll never really know won't we I guess. Zachary Quinto tried to answer the question over 40 years later in the reboot.

In Search of... "Atlantis" (1977)

The lost city of Atlantis is the subject of this episode's investigation. This episode tries to solve the mystery of whether Atlantis is just a myth or if perhaps it actually existed at some point. We get to hear various theories about Atlantis and possible discoveries that have occurred over time.

If you're a fan of the series then obviously you'll probably want to watch this episode and while it's not the best the series ever offered, it's also not quite the worst. For the most part this kept me entertained but at the same time the episode seemed a little muddy in regards to what it was trying to prove or say. It seems a lot of time was devoted to thins other than Atlantis.

Episode: B-
