Review on the Character , Okonkwo on the Screen Play, "Things Fall Apart"

The character Okonkwo in the screen play, "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe is

majestic. This movie was adapted and scripted by Adiele Onyedibia and Emma Eleanya. A

renowned actor, Pete Edochie acted as Okonkwo. Pete, really acted truly to the character and

depicted as an Igbo leader, local wrestling champion in the fictional village of Umuofia.

Okonkwo comes in as a strong man from his village, epitomizing the gait and strength of

Umuofia village. Okonkwo is wealthy and had two wives and children helping him out in his

Farms, including his adopted child, Ikemefuna.

Okonkwo's physical characteristics made him the anchor man leading the battle for his

Village, like he did commanding the war against Mbano. His fame and prowess in battle is

indeed legendary. He knows no fear, except fear itself.fear, that is Okonkwo. He was indeed, a

man of the people. Okonkwo's downfall fell apart when he refused the counsel of his friends

and then sacrificed his adopted child, Ikemefuna. He did this to satisfy his ego and strong man

attitude of not looking weak.

The fame became his downfall and eventually when he mistakenly killed someone, he went

in exile to his mother's village for ten years. By the time he comes back from exile, His village

had fell apart and overtaken by Christianity.
