How clever is Jonathan? What an odd bit of circumstances with this guy, and all these people.
I have watched a couple of Survivors in the past (as well as Big Brothers), found them utterly boring and over-sensationalized, but this interracial setup has an intriguing cast, has had an intriguing cast, and is interesting in how it is made up and breaking down.
But Jonathan, who I won't say is ranking as a villain, but he certainly is earning his spot as an under-handed schemer who isn't overly brilliant nor is he lucky, just very annoying, is not winning any friends here, left and right.
When Candace left her old tribe to be with the other tribe (and we must mention, to be with Adam and Parvati, two white members), at the last minute, Jonathan followed, reuniting the four remaining white members in a racist alliance.
Candace was not happy Jonathan did this. At best, Candace jumped ship to be with Adam (heart palpitations, girls!) From there, the abandoned tribe never lost any challenge, resulting in backstabbers Candace and Jonathan having to go to tribal council three times (Candace having to go back to Exile), so the ship-jump didn't work for them. Oddly enough, they were never voted out themselves.
So now the tribes have merged, and what does Jonathan do? He decides if his new tribes alliance, which had the majority, of himself, Adam, Parvati, Candace and non-white Nate, vote against Yul and Yul has the immunity idol, it will fall against him, so he sides with Yul, Becky, Sundra and Ozzy to vote out Nate, much to the surprise of Nate, Adam, Parvati and Candace.
What good can Jon honestly think this will do? He has already betrayed Yul, Becky, Ozzy and Sundra. Now he has turned on Adam, Parvati and Candace.
Still, these things can have a warped way of turning around. About the only reason they would keep Jonathan now, any of them, is because he is catching food, but Ozzy does this well also.
Whether Jonathan goes next week or not doesn't matter. The only real fun competition at this time would be if Yul, Ozzy and perhaps Adam remained to the end. They have displayed the strongest, fairest competition, Jonathan is a lot of gab.
With Nate gone, clearly it will simply be picking off the women from here on in, and perhaps Adam.
Only thing to do is tune in next week, but Nate's final words at the end of this episode are interesting.
"And, uh, Jonathan can kiss my ass."
