A slight smirk takes over the face of Barnabas when news of a dead girl arrives at the old house as a muffled Maggie listens, being held by Willie. Barnabas has tired of her, and it's obvious that the writers were rethinking a Maggie/Josette and Barnabas pairing. Barnabas finds her insufferable now. "Take her out of here, Willie. The sight of her offends me." He had considered putting her back in Josette's room, but his annoyance is easily aroused, and back in the locked room in the basement, Maggie begins to hear the sounds of a little girl, the introduction of Sarah Collins who has connection to Barnabas that will be explained later
Frankly I didn't see Maggie and Barnabas being connected other than for her to be a victim of his because she was too independent and feisty to ever completely fall under his spell. Kathryn Leigh Scott is relishing every moment of the storyline however, and really gets to emote. Some of the sounds she makes in her anguish can be ear shattering but it is understandable considering her situation. Frid only shows villainy in this episode and is as delicious as any Hammer or American International 60's horror man of evil, and watching it all unfold is mesmerizing.
