Truth or Truth

Rhonda has a game for the gang where you have to be completely honest. What can go wrong? Being honest is harder than you think because you or someone else will get their feelings hurt. It's a decent episode because it's characters talking and teasing one another. As much as I love physical comedy, the show balances comedy and touching moments. I like the variety. I also enjoy characters just talking.

That escalated quickly

The gang is inside on a rainy night playing a question game that Rhonda made up where you pick up cards and answer questions about themselves and others in the group.

The answers they give are insulting to the ones they're speaking about and soon everybody is at each other's throats after answering their questions.

This could've been really great, but I feel they escalated things way too quickly and there was no gradual build up to the big fight between Laverne and Shirley.

After tossing pudding in Shirley's face, Laverne runs upstairs and starts packing Shirley's things to kick her out of the apartment. It went from zero to 60 way too quickly for Laverne to want to kick Shirley out on the street like that.

Carmine follows to calm her down and Laverne then starts in on him out of nowhere calling him a failure in life for not following his dreams. There's no reason for her to do this, but she just goes off on what a loser he is in his career which is ironic coming from someone who's a department store gift wrapper! Carmine should've thrown that in her face.

The two make up and Laverne goes back downstairs to make up with Shirley and all is well again.

This same plot was previously done on All in the Family titled "The Games Bunkers Play" and much better with a gradual buildup of the game fighting that made it more believable. Watch that instead.
