A Delicate Balance
Prismark1027 June 2020
Dr Finlay comes across a strange young man. John Moore was bathing naked on a remote spot when he fell into the river and injured his leg.

Dr Finlay treats him but when he takes him home, John tells Dr Finlay his father had just died. In fact his father is still alive, he had lapsed into a coma as he is suffering from advanced cancer.

However John did not notify anyone of his father's death but went bathing instead. Later Dr Finlay suspects foul play when he hears John's father was a brute.

At least in this episode Dr Neil is called on to give a second opinion on the father's condition by Dr Finlay. Much better than the two bickering. Dr Finlay's interfering lands him in danger.

Dr Neil meanwhile gets the benefit of getting a second opinion himself from Dr Cameron over the health of a young boy. At first Dr Neil finds nothing wrong with the boy.

The issues relating to the the creation of the NHS are still ongoing, so you can understand the mother of the boy being upset that she may have to foot the medical bill of her son who might have a serious condition.

It was an odd episode with Dr Finlay almost becoming an investigator and then wondering if his intentions were misplaced.
