Probably the worst episode of the entire series

Absolutely stupid and totally ridiculous. Scott aka Denny Miller was never a great actor, but Susan Oliver WAS.....and this episode is a complete waste of her time and talent. Also wasted in this episode is the talented Richard Jaeckel. Poor Frank McGrath aka Charlie Wooster is also wasted.....even though, for a change, he is the most reasonable and rational character in the episode. That says a lot right there if you are familiar with Charlie Wooster. Some of the episodes away from the wagon train are OK, but not this one. This one is really bad. Don't waste your time. Skip it. Trust me.....you'll thank me later.

So why were they schlepping a body in a sandstorm?

Someone didn't think this one through. Susan Oliver makes her fourth and last appearance on Wagon Train as Duke Shannon's former sweetheart. But when they meet it's with Denny Miller and Charlie Wooster going to town to look for supplies.

But what circumstances. Oliver is being escorted by Sheriff Trevor Bardette who has a bum ticker as he puts it and sustains a fatal heart attack under some weird circumstances. Oliver is being taken to the county seat to be hung for murder.

Even a cowboy hero might just have said this is none of my business and sent Oliver off especially since she and Miller have history. But not Duke Shannon. She goes in the supply wagon and they are forced to seek shelter in an abandoned line shack due to a sandstorm.

Then the party gets real complete when a pair of robbers, Richard Jaeckel and Frank Cady show up with a dead body. Obviously they lie about the circumstances. What the idea behind carrying the body in a sandstorm God only knows. But it sets things up for a final showdown.

Denny Miller is sadly thinking with his male member. Even grizzled old Frank McGrath sees the whole situation better than him.

Not a well thought out story idea.
