September - 1908 Elizabeth and Lawrence are attempting to settle into married life - but there's one slight problem; Lawrence finds making love to Elizabeth 'repulsive' - time to call in his Publisher Sir Edwin Partridge (Charles Gray) to manage what he himself cannot... Elizabeth for her part; frustrated and, simply longing to lose her virginity, acquiesces with great ease.
This episode also shows Thomas's cunning and at his most 'enterprising', as even he can guess that as early on as this, that the marriage is doomed to failure... He ceases his opportunity to get his feet firmly under the table at Eaton Place by siding with Elizabeth to win favour in getting a motor car, and boasting of his knowledge to Lady Marjorie when she comes to visit.
This is the last episode we see the character 'Pearce' which was played by Brian Osborne since the beginning of the series which was set in 1903.
