Two episodes in a row without an appearance by Moxon. So there is no one meddling with Special Branch. It also means a layer in the story is missing.
I would had expected Moxon to show up in this one.
The Ministry of Defence calls in Special Branch as they discover some servicemen writing to a female pen pal and disclosing just a bit too much sensitive information.
Jordan checks out the pen pal agency. It seems they keep the letters from the servicemen all to themselves. A man called Costello answers the letters in the name of Doris and wheedels out information out of them.
Another man called Banks is also involved who has a police record. Banks leads them to a couple who is using the information and selling it onto the Russians.
Inman and Jordan turns the table on Costello and Banks by sending them letters and phone calls. It is to let them know that someone is onto them.
There is a cheeky ending with Jordan turning into a cab driver. The fare is on him.
