Bland, but not the worst...

This episode was mostly received negatively by fans and critics, mainly because it is a clip show. Okay, most Simpsons clips shows are pretty bland, I get it, but a 5.4? It really wasn't that bad compared to "All Singing, All Dancing" or "Another Simpsons Clip Show" as both of those clip shows were extremely mediocre.

This episode does not follow the cliche family sitting together thinking about memories in living room or kitchen and tries to create a different plot of everyone celebrating Homer Simpson for his achievements.

I'd have to admit that having Kang and Kodos here kind of ruined the episode as it makes it non-canon, which destroys the purpose of clip shows.

One change they made to one of the clips that I don't like is that they changed Maggie's voice at the part where she says "Daddy", the new voice that was given here doesn't sound as cute as the original.

The best part of the episode by far is the "They'll Never Stop the Simpsons" song, it recaps on all the big moments of the series as well as making fun of ridiculous future plots such as Marge becoming a robot for example, heck, there was even a picture of Homer jumping the shark which shows awareness that the series will eventually jump the shark (again).

Overall, this episode was a little bit dull but it doesn't deserve a lower rating than actual bad episodes of the show.

Thank goodness this was the last time the Simpsons made a clip-show.

Normally I know that the other clip-shows the Simpsons has created has been panned for having a weak plot that does not get concentrated and instead are showing us some old clips from the previous episodes, well not so much of the very first clip-show-episode and The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular which IMO is a great clip-show-episode.

Looking at the episode I understand it was supposed to be a homage of the movie Forrest Gump, later Homer and his family goes to the Gump Roast to represent Homer and see some of his memorable moments. But right at the third section of the episode something really strange happens that technically should not happen on the episode, Kang and Kodos appears on a non-Halloween episode! What the heck was Dan Castellaneta thinking about putting the Halloween characters on the episode? This makes the episode become into a non-canon episode instead of something real that happens on the Simpsons.

I don't think this episode worked very well, it has some big flaws that will make you go "what the heck was that?" It's a pretty lazy episode that won't deliver you something special. One thing I don't like about this episode is that they completely changed Maggie's voice (at one of the clips when Maggie says her first word) into Nancy's instead of Elizabet Taylor's! Seriously how could they do this? Although I gotta say that They'll Never Stop The SImpsons song is funny and is probably the only good part on the episode.

Is this episode recommended? If you ask me it's not an episode to look at. I suggest that you ignore this.

Average Episode,but the Scenes that Aren't from Pther Episides are Actually Very Funny,

Gump Roast is a good Simpsons episode with an average storyline.Obviously it is a weak episode,definitely the weakest of the thirteenth season,because it is a clip show,which are just episode where every scene sets up a bunch of clips from older episodes.While I did enjoy the old scenes they showed,you obviously watch the show for new jokes,which is why I am quite glad this was the series last clip show to date.Although I did like the parts that wern't clips,they were very funny,particularly the parts at Homers roast,a lot of the characters had some really funny albeit insulting things to say about Homer,and I also enjoyed the beginning of the episode that parodied Forrest Gump.Its still an enjoyable episode,but Gump Roast is filled with scenes from other episodes,so it obviously isn't outstanding,but it still delivers laughs.

Homer is honored at his own roast where some close family and friends and even some unexpected guests show us some of his best and most embarrassing moments.

Hate Clip Shows worse than an unfunny episode

If I wanted to watch a clip show I'd go searching for "Insert character I like here" best moments. Or best "my favorite season" moments.

It's a clip show, that pretty much sums this episode up.

Yes, it's nice to see the old clips again, but the new material isn't overly funny.

Even the show apologises for being a clip show at the end, that was the funniest bit.

Skip this episode.

Great to go down memory lane with Homer in this Forrest Gump inspired episode. Made me laugh and love the song at the end.

This is the best of the simspson clip show, by far, i love the song in the end also, a shot at every stupid people asking for the end of the Simpsons.

This episode just prove people are not fair in ratings, because a clip show in season 3 or 4 was rated 7/10 and now its 5.5/10 , just because its season 13 and its fun to hate on every Seasons After season 10...
