Perhaps the show's most complete episode.

A young man is killed on a self Governing, Scottish Island, officially it's suicide, but Jeff and Jeannie travel to Strait Isle to investigate, they find some very strange goings on.

This may just be my favourite episode, in series two the show was getting better and begged, it really felt like they were on the road to something. I Happy Isle combines Pagan horror, sci fi and humour, Marty makes a joke about Doctor No, and there is a vibe.

Those opening sequences are really chilling, that trip of pagan figures are so menacing, like something from The Whicker Man.

It's full of laughs, a drunken Jeannie is good fun, as is a jealous Marty, and the whole homoerotic vibe is very funny, and Jeff was very cute.

They really did assemble a fantastic cast for this episode, you'll see Alex Ferns, George Baker, John Sessions and Rupert Vansittart, they all deliver, Baker though, he knew how to play a villain, as well as the much loved Inspector Wexford.

The show and its best.

9/10.
