Bodie and Doyle undergo some tough physical training with Barry Martin - a well-respected (and founder) member of The Squad.
But it appears Barry may have other interests that compromise his position - what with the assassination of an informant in broad daylight (who was about to give evidence on Martin to Special Branch about a spy and drug smuggler whom Cowley has been long pursuing), and the questionable death of another witness shortly after, right under Bodie and Doyle's noses.
Cowley suspects the leak may come from CI5 itself - but it seems Martin is unlikely to give himself up and come quietly, and a cat and mouse chase soon begins.
This was the first episode filmed for the second season, and also marks the third (and final) appearance of Pamela Stephenson - surely the most recurring guest actor in the lifetime of the show.
The viewer knows that Martin is up to no good straight away - and it's left for the penny to drop for CI5 to find out too, and to eventually close in on their quarry.
Cowley seems more bad-tempered and shouty than usual - but Bodie and Doyle don't seem too worried, and we get some good humorous 'car banter' scenes early on, as well as Doyle's ironic 'Miss Marples' quip.
With former stunt man Ray Austin directing, you know there'll be a fair few fight scenes and general rough and tumble - and Dennis Spooner provides a good script that shows CI5 aren't always beyond reproach, and do sometimes have to 'keep their own doorstep clean'.
This is a good, solid story from an excellent second season that gets things off to a fine start.
