Peter's plans to have Cookie Carruthers (Leigh Chapman) over for a romantic dinner is dashed when his boss Max Brahms (Jack Collins) brings his eight-year-old niece Amanda (Eileen Baral, "Nanny and the Professor"). He asks Peter to let Amanda stay overnight while he has an important dinner meeting. Peter drags Greta (Patricia Harty) into the situation and away from her hungry date Harvey (Paul Sand). Amanda comes down with a serious stomach ache and Peter calls for Dr. Mortimer (Tom Palmer). The doctor can't find anything wrong with her and she admits to it being an act, as she wants to be an actress. Amanda begins catching on to the odd "occasional wife" scenario and blackmails Peter for acting lessons. Everything is on the line when Mr. Brahms returns.
