A guilty chuckle is about all there is to this weak episode for Bob Newhart !

This is a strictly one-joke episode that is surprisingly weak and crass for the staid and steady Mr Bob Newhart. Visually it is difficult not to chuckle or at least smirk to yourself when you see this lady that is the butt of the joke, for the simple reason that she looks different than most other people. This is a pretty normal reaction that most people have,it does not make the viewer an evil person if they snicker a little.

It is however a lazy and crass writer, director, producer, and all others that co-signed for this one weak joke that is stretched into a whole episode of Newhart. It hasn't aged well,it seems ludicrously crass (though it is kind of funny anyway) but the weak story surely does not carry a whole episode.

Luckily this episode really was an anomaly, probably one of the 5 weakest episodes I say.

Running out of ideas....

"Newhart" is a show that went on about one season too many. Although the series ended spectacularly well in the final episode, many of the season eight shows were downright terrible...proof that the series had run its course and was long overdue for an end. A spectacular example of this is the episode "I Like You, Butt...". George finds a woman's wallet. In looking through it, she seems like a nice lady and George is very excited to see her and phones where she is staying. When she arrives at the Stratford, she is a pretty lady but she has a ridiculously large buttocks. Later, George and Bob make a lot of mean jokes about the woman's butt. Nuff said.

The bottom line is that this episode was very scant on plot. A woman has a large butt....and that's really about it. It also seemed rather offensive and I am sure this sort of humor put off a lot of viewers...I know it did me.

I'm Glad It's All Behind Us Now

This is a lowest common denominator show. George finds a wallet and sees that the woman is very attractive. He gets in touch with her and she comes to get the wallet at the Stratford. The issue is that while pretty and well proportioned in every other way, she has an enormous rear end. This leads to every lame joke they can come up with. Even though George asks her out, he can't see past this. It's a childish plot, and I agree with other reviewers that this is quite cruel and insensitive. In subplots, Michael and Stephanie are trying to come up with names for their offspring and every pretentious bone in their bodies comes into play. Not all that entertaining..
