I freaking love this episode!

Great episode! I've recently been watching this show on Netflix. I've seen the first four episodes, and this one is my favorite so far, closely followed by episode 3. Almost everything about this episode is great. The great, simple premise. The great jokes, almost every one works. The beginning scene, the one before the theme song plays. That entire scene where the mom blasts a terrible song on loud volume. The entirety of it. The phone discussions the three kids have with their older brother. Malcom's "brilliant idea" at the end, that we never actually find out, but we don't even need to for the joke to work. The HILARIOUS ENDING! Love this episode. The only thing holding this back from a 10/10 is the scenes with the dad getting drunk and having a conversation and a dinner with the guy who gets payed to stand in the bathroom, offering people mints or something. Not the best scenes, but the others make up for it, and then some. Great show, too, by the way. If you're reading this and haven't watched the show yet, do so now! It's on Netflix, only $7.99 per month, and you can watch "Futurama" while you're at it.

This show is so fantastic. I was chuckling to myself the whole time.

This time we get the boys versus Lois. The episode does a great job of highlighting the terror that the boys feel over her wrath. It's like a monster movie. She's an ogre plodding around and roaring.

We also get to see creepy Craig. One of the most memorable characters.

Hal is fun in his "alone at the restaurant" subplot, but it's Lois who definitely steals this episode.

Lois or Joan Crawford

Malcolm in the middle is that one show created the type of audience that encourages bullying among children, and thinks psychological torture / abuse is funny. These characters are said to be the underdogs, the people that suppose to be the most relatable (according to the shows fans). That doesn't help me change my opinion about the show, but it tell me more about audience. Abuse is not funny, in any form or intent. How am I suppose to root, or relate to the character of Lois, as she psychologically tortures her own children. And don't say, "Well there brats, it's totally justifiable". No, it's not. Abuse is wrong no matter the context. I don't understand why people relate to the character of Lois. This is Joan Crawford- Mommie Dearest levels of insanity right here. If there is one thing Malcolm in the Middle could have done to be more of a enjoyable or watchable program, it should have had the characters recognize their own mistakes and grow from them, because that is what real people do. And if you counter by pointing out, "No they don't" then you clearly are one of those people who doesn't know or empathsize the true horrors life has in store for us when we keep doing crappy things over and over and feel bad about it like it makes everything okay. Seriously screw this episode.
