A man is missing. We know what happened to him because we saw it in the opening scene. Somebody had murdered him, put him in a car and dumped the body. We only saw the latter.
It turns out to be a man from San Diego who had traveled to Chicago, thinking his rich relative had died and he was going to get some big money. Trouble is, someone else obviously wanted the money, too! The episode isn't too subtle. The Liberal writers - which don't normally hit you in the face with their politics like they do today - have a frowning Lee Marvin twice describe a private eye as "conservative." That translates, of course, to "bad guy." There are two hot women in this episode, but neither one sounded like a good actress They were Joan Vohs and Rebecca Welles. They were easier on the eyes than the ears.
Harry Laufer plays "Allen Lloyd," that despicable "conservative," who obviously is a shady character, was good, so good that you are never quite sure if he is the guilty party, or part of a big scam, or uninvolved. At least the story keeps you guessing.
