A Christmas Carol - Land of the Giants Style
fcabanski24 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Although it's not terrific, it's pretty good. You'll root for the boys from beginning to end, even if there's a brief time when they want to burn old Fitzhugh.

Fithugh shows his heart - he wants to help the two boys have some kind of celebration on a holiday night when they're alone.

The Scrooge-like orphanage manager has a change of heart after the boys help him overcome the sinister organ grinder.

In the end, Fitzhugh and the other humans manage to give the little boys their wish.

God bless us one and all.

It All Comes Together In The Last Two Minutes

Fitz is captured by two orphans.

It took me 40 years to like this episode! This hour was forever considered by me as the very worst episode of Land Of The Giants. It would constantly appear in re-runs and when that opening cookie footage appeared I would run for cover in my TV room knowing "that episode" was on again.

Thrombeldinbar begins with giggling little boys and Fitz behaving like a playful child...this is enough to turn off many viewers. The hour picks up when child guardian - Alfred Ryder - shows up. But it is actually the final words spoken in the hour (between Ryder and the orphans) that make the episode good and deeply touching.

The music score by Leith Stevens, the guy who scored Lost In Space's Blast Off Into Space, is also very well matched to the hour.
