This episode never ceases to make me cry.....

Warning: Spoilers
Something about seeing a characters long lost past is just incredibly heartbreaking to me. We see Faye's childhood from before the accident over 60 years ago. Just about everything seen in these cassette tapes are long gone. Her old home, her friends, her hometown; pretty much all gone, only to be seen through old video tapes.

I recommend this episode highly, but bring the tissues. :'(

Speak Like a Child

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode of Cowboy Bebop, we discover about Faye's past and how everything she had -even the recollections- are gone now. A quick summary: A package comes for Faye with a Beta cassette. Faye runs, thinking it to be from a debt collector. Jet and Spike undertake a search for a player to view it. They find it is a cassette sent by Faye herself from 10 years ago.

I think the end of this episode is impactful, but I found the part where Jet and Spike searched for a player purposeless since the player was also sent to them later that episode. Don't get me wrong: I do not think that part was uninteresting. It would be too short if they removed that part, and we would miss all the well-written dialogues and settings. I'm just saying that the goal and the result of that scenes could have been better. The visual style and music are as astonishing and timeless as every other episode. Voice acting sounds pleasing, and every second of it was incredibly immersive. I don't remember losing attention even for a second.

Memories....such a precious little thing!

This episode is a true testament of why Cowboy Bebop is a masterpiece. The episode has everything, humor, adventure, quirky dialogues and in the end ...such sadness and melancholia! The video of Faye's old self and Faye watching her and asking herself "Is that me?" Is the most heartbreaking thing. We all have this one life, but can't even realise how fast each day, month and years are passing by. And in the blink of an eye, our present becomes long lost memories. The dialogues of young Faye really hits hard. So as long as you have your health and your life, live it to the fullest. Love your life!!
