All credit to the incredible acting of Erik Dellums as Luther Mahoney, who only appeared in five episodes in all before his demise at the hands of Detective Mike Kellerman (Reed Diamond) in this episode, and Dellums' chewed the screen as Mahoney, and despite there only being five episodes (the sixth episode featured him afterwards in a flashback I believe), his presence on screen was very overpowering. Kellerman's act towards Mahoney had consequences that reverberated across season six, like really, who would have thought, whereas in Law and Order (which I like) the reverberations are wrapped up by the end of the episode.
