There's some nice stuff here.Lance's new role continues to work well as we see the beginnings of his double act with Sally.The scene of Steven, Carly and Lynn in the kitchen is a nice character sequence with the way they keep throwing a half-eaten apple between them brilliantly staged. After his random attempt to chat up an older girl in the previous episode, Steven actually gets as far as talking to Alyce(spelled Elyce in the end credits, the show will be extremely inconsistent on the issue)only to get shot down in flames.Hanging in the background is Sandra, who suffers a similar humiliation from an inconsiderate Carly.
Meanwhile, Barnett manages to defy the "simple country copper" stereotype and make some correct deductions about the nature of Ailsa's stalker.It's actually quite a surprise that Roo was responsible, although it seems very obvious in retrospect.Nice trick too to have Ailsa actually point out that Alf's spoiled her, saving it from seeming too black and white, but Alf facing her down is still a satisfying moment.
