Why do some Watchers hate immortals?
danrs00000829 August 2020
1. Peter Hudson is probably a very interesting person to know. He was a scholar and teacher before becoming an actor. He is obviously a great actor because he was able to create the most despicable character in the Highlander TV series, the character of rogue Watcher James Horton. Horton made it his mission to kill immortals, a fete made more easy because immortals cannot feel the approach of these mortal Watchers. Also these Watchers show no regard for rules of immortals such as no violence on Holy Ground. 2. So why do they hate immortals? I think the answer is simple. They are jealous of immortals simply because they are immortal. The watchers do not understand immortals but secretly wish that they too could somehow attain immortality, but they know that will never happen.

New regular character, Joe Dawson. Richie and Tessa's camaraderie. Duncan takes care of the watchers or has he? Solid episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Mac still grieving over Darius wants to track down the source for the book he found.

Did anyone else enjoy Duncan beating up that thug at the beginning in the bar? I did. It's always good to see a bully get his just deserts. Hey, it's fiction!

The gang head back to the U.S. for the season 2 opener. Adrian Paul looks like he's been training in new martial arts as his fighting style is new. Richie ditches the tie-dye shirts. Tessa and Mac work on reopening their store.

Mac confronts two watchers and this is where we see his new fighting style. The book leads Mac to Joe Dawson, who will become a regular character. Joe tells Mac about the watchers and how it works. Personally, I find the Watchers creepy and always found it odd and completely out-of-character that Mac would be okay with people watching him all the time as the series goes on. They're basically obsessed stalkers. I really like Joe, but let's face it, he has a man-crush on Mac and it must have been like a little-boy fantasy when Mac became friends with him. Like hanging with Superman or Batman.

I loved the team-up of Richie and Tessa. They have great camaraderie and were fun. Love when Richie said: "Oh, man. This is just great! Just great! I mean, he's there. They're there. We're here. Nobody's anywhere," and Tessa says: "You ever think of running for Congress?"

Horton tries to kill Mac and Mac runs him through with a sword. Mac is injured and "dies," waking up later and believing Horton is dead. I found the ending weird. Everything is gone from Joe's office and computer. As if tho the watchers are over, but as the series goes on everything is back to normal for them as they still watching immortals.

This was a solid episode. It somehow seemed tighter with better pacing and good editing, in comparison with season one. I gave the episode an 8/10.

still missing Darius, (kinda like, more real) Warning: Spoilers
The opening in the bar, the fight, ya know Mac was just itchin to "let off steam", and Richie stopping him before Mac really "kills" well mainly one as the others have given up. Mac, "My plane leaves in...Tess," mine too", love their relationship, just wishing AV hadnt wanted to leave series, (guess she wanted to be home more and do other things). The driving, looking for, finding of Joe Dawson (welcoming JB into highlander with a relationship of many great times and a few very bad times, well on the show anyway).

The Richie crashing into car with "bad watcher" with Tess, and do like their dialog of Richie just saying the "we're here, they're there..." and Tess "ever think of running for congress. Tess awake all night on pay phone looking for Mac, Richie snoring, Tess has had it.

The poor daughter, Lynn, to have a dad like Horton, her fiancé works with him yet has no prob killing him, thus hurting daughter more (glad she finds out). The party where Joe finally knows he working with a bad guy, who is his bro in law. Joe trying to save day by meeting Horton, course Mac comes, and again shows he more human than Horton, though does end up running him through with sword after he is shot and Horton coming at him with ax...we left to think he dead but...and all has gone of what Joe shows/shares with Mac, and the last with 2 new "watchers" uh good ? we never really know. Do love the last walk with Richie coming up behind Mac and Tess, all 3 smiling...

Was a bit slow in parts gave 7 as was OK might have been 6.5 but don't have the point part as an option

A good start for HIGHLANDER THE SERIES´ second season! Warning: Spoilers
_______Highlander: The series_______ Season 2. Episode 1.

_______The Watchers_______

A good start for HIGHLANDER THE SERIES' second season!

The most important thing in this episode is of course, that it formally introduces "The Watchers" to the series; a non-lucrative but with many rich men organization dedicated to record all the events related to immortals world-wide and that has been around for centuries without the knowledge of immortals or other mortals outside this selected group.

Nevertheless, things are not as peaceful as they seem as this organization seems to be connected to the assassination of one of the best friends of Duncan, the old monk and former Duncan´s teacher; DARIUS.

Thanks for reading.

Bad Watcher and Richie Ruin It
Johnny_West29 April 2021
This episode was all over the place. Joe Dawson is a good guy, now an ally of Duncan, but his best friend Joe Horton is evil. It would have been better if this episode had been two episodes. One just about Dawson and the good Watchers, and the other about Horton and the evil Watchers.

Joe Dawson's part of the episode was pretty good, a solid beginning for the relationship with Duncan. Unfortunately, in the middle of it was Horton the evil watcher, who happens to be best friends with Dawson. So are they good or are they bad? Given the way this episode played out, if I were Duncan, I would have moved out of town again.

Which brings up the very needy, nagging, and annoying Tessa. Why does Duncan want somebody who is always in his business? For that matter, why is Richie in this show? He is easily the most obnoxious character in every episode where he speaks. I am always hoping somebody will kill off Richie, but all I can do is mute his scenes.
