Ok-ish but nothing exceptional
coltras3528 April 2022
After knocking down a blind man, Sister Stephanie feels guilty and opens her heart to him as he seems to be in need of assistance. But she soon discovers that she has become an unwitting accomplice in a scheme to blackmail a prominent parishioner.

Not an exceptional mystery, though Sister Steve takes a chunk of the limelight. She gets feelings for a conman, but of course it can't work out. The kiss between her and the conman was unnecessary, it makes Steve being nun a bit weak. Thing to look out is Tom Bosley singing Blue Moon.

Blind man fools Sister Steve

I thought this was a good mystery until the end.

Sister Steve meets a blind many in the bank. Sister turns and knocks him on the ground. She feels very guilty about it and talks with him.

You can see she likes him and trusts him. Later a rich well like by the church because of his donations visits her where Father Dowling lives. He said someone opened his bank box and stole something and only her and the other person could have done that. This is another unbelievable tale. I don't think the bank would give out names or addresses of their customers but would investigate this themselves.

So Father Dowling and Sister set out to find out what happened. Sister later finds out the blind man is not who he says he is and she gets mad at being deceived.

Her and the blind man both like each other and he gives her a long kiss on the lips which she does not stop -- a few minutes before. There is nothing wrong with a woman getting kissed. This I think is inappropriate for a putting a character of a nun in this position. This is the second episode that this happened in. Another was an old boyfriend meets up with her and kisses her to in a very romantic way which she also does not stop.

Things about this series really are immoral. In other episodes their is a pole dancer with very little clothing. It seems they missed out on the moral code of the Catholic and religious people just to make a story interesting.

In the previous episode "The Ghost of a Chance Mystery" Sister talks to a reporter and he uses the word "Jesus" like a swearing word.

I am not a Catholic but to me the contents of Father Dowling are offensive. When they are not adding strippers or kisses and they also insult the Italians in Chicago by making them all mobsters. I am half Italian from a big Italian family and my relatives were not mobsters but educated business owners.

Tom Bosley is a great actor as Father Dowling and he is not used in an offensive way in the series. He also plays the Sheriff in "Murder She Wrote" series.

I will watch the rest of the series as I find them. I don't understand how it could last 3 seasons. Some episode are funny and full of suspense but very hard to believe but that's okay it is fantasy to begin with. If I don't like the episode I won't finish watching it and will flush the rest down the toilet.
