Mr French has competition
gregorycanfield28 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A not-so-believable premise. Bill returns home from business in China. Without an invitation, his Chinese butler comes to New York, assuming Bill will take him on as an employee. Ho starts invading Mr French's territory, and French reacts in the obvious way. Benson Fong was annoying as the butler. James Hong, a much better and more recognizable character actor, makes a brief appearance as one of Bill's business associates. I think Hong would have been better in the role of the butler. This otherwise disposable episode is redeemed by the ending. Mr French is about to resign, but Bill and the kids tell French how much they want him to stay. Cissy makes me smile every time I see her. In this scene, she also got me emotional. She says to French: "We don't love Ho. We love you." Wow! A beautiful girl saying exactly what was in her heart. Kathy Garver, you're the best!

Saving Face
Jimmy_the_Gent418 October 2020
Bill is working on a job in Hong Kong and befriends the head servant Eng Ho.

A funny episode, one of several dealing with Asian people and customs. Ho is played by veteran Benson Fong, who also appeared in Season 2 in "The Great Kow Tow". Ho comes to New York when Bill tells him to look him up, thinking Bill is offering him a job. He believes he has to come to "save face". There are many funny scenes as Mr French becomes annoyed with Ho taking over the house. A touching scene as French wants to quit but the children convince him to stay.
