One of the funniest sequences in the show's history.

Uninvited Guests is one of the funniest episodes of Dad's Army. The first half is funny in its own right, the Vicar agreeing to the ARP and Home Guard sharing an office made for humour, but the finale is side splitting.

The scenes of The warden bursting into Mainwaring's office and partitioning it in two are so funny, the frustration in each character brilliant played out. However, it's the roof top scenes at the end that cause the greatest laughs. From start to finish, the scenes are hilarious, buckets of water flying over Pike, so funny, but it's the moment where Jonesy slides down the roof towards the chimney that causes sheer hilarity. So funny.

The time in this series had been a little different, perhaps a little deeper, this one was just all out laughs. 9/10

Not terrible but it tried my patience by the end

Warning: Spoilers
As with the pairing of Mum's Army and The Test, Uninvited Guests provides broader relief following the dramatic tensions of A. Wilson (Manager)? Unfortunately, what begins as a decent enough episode about the Home Guard being forced to share the Church Hall with the ARP wardens eventually descends into a prolonged slapstick action sequence in which the two join forces to try and extinguish a chimney fire. This is Dad's Army at its silliest, which means lots of people getting hit in the face with buckets of water and a detrimental overuse of Jones. I love the character of Jones but every so often Croft and Perry write him as stuck perpetually in full "Don't panic!" mode and it quickly becomes too much. I understand that many people love these more slapstick episodes, so if the notion of Jones getting his trousers caught on a window, being thrust off a ledge on a ladder, falling backwards off a roof and then sliding crotch-first into a hot tin chimney sounds like your cup of tea, you'll probably love Uninvited Guests. While I didn't hate it, my patience had worn thin by the final credits.
