"The Manuel Who Came to Dinner" casts Danny Nunez as Manuel Guerrera, Ed's old army buddy, a delightful surprise to Chico to learn that he had a Mexican friend for many years. We also learn that Ed's disliking of Chicanos stems from this relationship, as his daughter was dating Guerrera's son, with Manuel disapproving of the match. One little white lie leads to another, Chico trying to patch things up between two grumpy old men, until both agree to bury the hatchet for dinner and baseball. Not only is Chico's given name revealed to be 'Francisco Ramon Rodriguez y Sanchez,' but Ed also gives his full name at the episode's conclusion, 'Edward Philip Jackson E. Brown' (in later episodes, he gave his middle name as 'Lester'). We hear a softer version of Jose Feliciano's opening theme, and another reprise of "it's not my job!"
