A Long and Busy Night
claudio_carvalho10 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Greg has found a replacement in the DNA lab, Chandra Moore, and introduces her to the co-workers. Capt. Brass, Grissom and Greg, in his first case, investigate the death of an unidentified victim with a shot in the forehead in a shooting in the nightclub owned by Manny Brazil. He says that he does not know how the gun has passed through the metal detector. Catherine and Det. Louis Vartann investigate the murder of a woman covered in blood in a hotel room. The man, Carl Johnson, also covered in blood, tells to the detectives that he has never seen that woman before. Soon they learn that the victim is the stripper Nicole "Raven" Richards that drugged Carl to rob him. Warrick and Det. Chris Cavaliere investigate the death of Lance Frazer, a loser that died in the bathtub electrified by heat exchanger causing a short circuit in the motel. Soon Warrick learns that Lance hit a fifty-thousand-dollar jackpot on the previous night. Nick, Sara and Det. Travis investigate an "alien" buried in a shallow grave near the Area 51.

"Viva Las Vegas" is an episode of "CSI" with four different cases, all well-resolved by the team. In addition, the DNA technician Chandra Moore is the substitute for Greg, but she quits due to the pressure in her laboratory. Catherine has a great deception at the end of the episode. My vote is seven.

Too Many Cooks

There's nothing wrong with this episode, it's just so busy and fragmented. There are dead bodies all over the place. One is in the desert where crazies congregate thinking there are aliens all over. We then get into the wedding chapel thing where Elvis impersonators and gangster types are the ministers, among others. The subplot is a young woman who is to take Greg's position as the DNA specialist. She is a cold fish and has a hard time with the frantic nature of the lab. She allows Greg to go into the field where he has a hard time. Catherine also makes a startling discovery.

Half-assed effort

They try to solve 4 crimes and introduce a new major character all in 40 minutes which fails miserably. On average it takes them about 7-8 minutes to "solve" each case but none of the cases are actually solved to anyone's satisfaction, raising more questions than they are answering.
