Terrific and offbeat ending for this too short series.

Vic Morrow plays here a private eye hired by a woman to find the murderer of her brother. And you have also Cameron Mitchell as a evil character, a maniac who kills and terrorizes his victims. And Morrow is on the case, chasing the maniac when the police arrives on the scene. That's where Vic Morrow faces Bronkov. Morrow's character is quite interesting, as an ex Special forces man and then body guard for the Secret Service, a bitter man who lost his illusions. They will have to play together to nail the maniac - Cameron Mitchell. True powerful scheme which I highly appreciate. The murders here look like sorts of snuff movies, absolutely horrible killings. The most interesting in this series is that the main, lead character seems to be more Morrow than Palance!!!

Could've been it's own series

Bronk was a short lived 70s cop drama that likely got stereotyped and dismissed as just another cop drama. The show actually does an excellent job at being unique during a time when the genre filled the tv schedule. This show debuted in 1975 surrounded by Kojak, Baretta, Starsky & Hutch among others already on the air but the focus is more on story and character than 70s made for TV action. There are some things I didn't care for like adding idiosyncratic identifiers to the title character. I guess they felt they needed something, it was the era for them, if it wasnt lollipops it was birds or in this case, a pipe.

This final episode feels like a pilot for a new show. Vic Morrow is the main character here with all of the series regulars, even Jack Palance's Bronk himself popping in for a scene or two like they were added in after the fact. Morrow plays a detective whose office is in a carnival behind the merry-go-round. He is hired by the sister of a murder victim to track down his killer who is a vigilante played by Cameron Mitchell. There is alot going on and the hour long episode feels like a good movie in its own right.

The series is worth checking out and this final episode is different but excellent for the era. A shame they couldn't build more off it.

Great story, but very little "Bronk" and a lot of Vic Morrow

"Bronk" (actor Jack Palance) makes only a brief appearance in this final show of the series. CBS was planning to cancel "Bronk"; they used this final episode as a Pilot for a new detective show starring Vic Morrow.

"Frank Carey", the PI who is out to track down the Vigilante, dominates the story. Actor Vic Morrow had been immortalized as "Sergeant Saunders" in the long-running television show "Combat", which aired from 1962-1967. He would have been a great choice for a Private Investigator-themed television series. But for whatever reason, this Pilot was never picked up. "The Vigilante" is the one and only appearance of Private Investigator Frank Carey.

This is a particularly good and suspenseful story about a madman who seeks vengeance on murderers who have had their court cases dismissed on technicalities. He is quite gruesome and dramatic in being "The Sword" to carry out the justice that the Courts failed to dispense.

Investigator Frank Carey sets himself up as bait, to flush out the vigilante. Vic Morrow is at the top of his game here. Actor Cameron Mitchell is very convincing in his part as the Vigilante. Put together, they make for a very suspenseful and entertaining story.
