The Beginning Of 'Clayface'
ccthemovieman-111 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This is the history - we'll be seeing at least two more episodes of this character - of "Matt Hagen" a.k.a. "Clayface," an film actor who winds up disfigured after an auto accident and then becomes up addicted to some gooey substance which will transform his face. It's a lot faster than plastic surgery, he's told , and it works great.

The brown goo gives "Hagen" an instant face transplant and he can either go back to being a handsome movie star or be anyone he wants. In this episode, he uses it one time to fake being Bruce Wayne during a crime. Wayne, of course, is innocent, but accused and he/Batman have to prove their innocence.

The problem with the goo, by the way, like a lot of quick fixes, is that it doesn't last and it's addicting, so -Hagan/Clayface keeps going back to the place where the stuff is hidden: in lab belonging to bad guy "Roland Daggett," the guy who wants to take over Wayne Enterprises. It's like a drug, and Hagen has to have it.

Included in this episode is a thug called Bell whom Batman calls a "scumwad." That's a good name; never heard that one before.

Wayne is arrested and put in jail, ending this first part of a two-part episode.

Feat of misfortune
Mr-Fusion27 December 2016
'Feat of Clay' is a great example of a Batman villain born out of some unfortunate soul's personal demons. Here, it's an actor relying on cosmetics to cover up his physical disfigurement. That alone is kinda sad, but with Roland Daggett as the snake who's lording that miracle cream over him, it's downright miserable. What's kinda funny about this is that there's almost always a tailored gangster or corporate sleaze behind these tragic villainous turns - Daggett, Thorne, Boyle - nothing too deep there, just an observation, I guess.

Rob Perlman makes for a great Clayface and his descent is one of the more horrifying. Now that I think about it, this is a rather theatrical episode.

This episode gives a great backstory for a character I've never been warm or familiar with.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode gives a great backstory for a character I've never been warm or familiar with. Clayface is a very interesting character, but also a more abstract, difficult and less-used character in Batman's rouge gallery. This is a great episode for anyone not familiar with the character's backstory, it makes you sympathize with Matt. Also, it introduces the new villain Daggot - Which reminded me of The Dark Knight Rises, as well as the hospital scene in the end. It's also really cool to see Luscious Fox being introduced in this episode, it only adds more to the suspense of what the overall mystery of the episode is. Can't wait to watch the second-part.

An Actor Plays Many Roles

Warning: Spoilers
This was a fun And thrilling episode. part 1 of a 2 parter it sets up a lot of great stuff for part 2. Including the fact that Bruce Wayne has been arrested!

There's an intriguing start to the episode with a Bruce Wayne impersonator trying to set up Batman - it gets you invested in the story. You wonder what kind of villain is behind it.

The character of Clayface is great. A disfigured actor who needs special face cream to keep his looks, so he makes a "deal with the devil" to get it by agreeing to work for a man who wants to frame Batman. The scene where he gets the cream poured all over him in vast quantities is striking.

Flying over Gotham in the Batmobile with a bad guy hanging precariously is one of the highlights. Fun scene.

They really love putting in evil corporations don't they? I feel like Almost all of the episodes so far have Featured them.

Episode 1.2 of Kelly Face was excellent. And it didn't have a boring piece from start to finish, and that's great, and I give it 10.10, but it's worth more than a decade.

Can we get a tear here? Please?

The origin of Clayface gives us yet another villain to have sympathy for, and that makes a clean sweep so far in the series. Here a popular actor has suffered a horribly disfiguring accident, and only a cream, so far only a test product, allows him to reconfigure his face into something normal.

Unfortunately, the industrialist responsible for the cream--the real villain--holds the availability of more of the cream to force the actor to impersonate people ... starting with Bruce Wayne in an attempt to take over Wayne Enterprises, and in the process Lucious Fox is injured and names Bruce as being responsible!

Clayface Part 1

Warning: Spoilers
Previously we saw the police going after Batman, this time it's the police going after Bruce Wayne, interesting. I like that every 24 hours Clayface needs more of Dagget's cream to maintain his looks. So while he has some powerful abilities, he has this weakness which makes his character vulnerable and more interesting. Also the cream he uses is very addictive so he is also an addict in a way. Also Bruce having to deal with someone who keeps changing how he looks is definitely a challenge. Bruce got arrested? Damn. After what they did to Hagen he turned into a disgusting monster, intense. Cool cliffhanger. My rating is 7.5/10.
