The Persuaders

David Marlowe is kidnapped and as the ransom Mannering is forced to sell a fake Renoir painting to Sir Robert Ellacott. Mannering calls on Templeton-Green for help. The Baron follows his orders and sells the picture but whilst visiting he meets Sir Robert's nephew Roddy and becomes suspicious. When Marlowe is stabbed by Roddy as he attempts to escape, the other gang members become nervous. Mannering has to meet Roddy with the ransom money to ensure that Marlowe isn't killed.

The Baron is similar to the Saint, very English in its style, but what makes it unique is that the hero - Mannering - is an American. Steve Forrest plays him, though he lacks the charm of the Saint ( Roger Moore), he still has a likebility and he's little more hard boiled. He is assisted by Paul Ferris as his sidekick.

It's another enjoyable and engaging episode which features a deliciously villainous turn by James Villiers. A posh boy who hates his uncle, thus he gets the Baron to sell his uncle a fake painting for cash. Georgina Ward, a pretty babe, plays his girlfriend and the painter of the fake. There's some tense moments, good isolated setting and satisfying ending where the Baron turns table around on the cunning Villiers.
