The ball is finally starting to roll,...

Warning: Spoilers
Up until the last few episodes, Season Five had been a dull and disappointing affair. While I absolutely love BABYLON 5, it was a lot harder to force myself to stick with it in the last season since so many episodes seemed to lack direction or tension. Here, finally, a significant and exciting conflict is starting into motion.

Lennier and others now have damaging and conclusive proof that the Centauri are behind the recent attacks on Alliance ships. When a meeting of all the Alliance worlds (minus the Centauri) occurs, everyone is angry and tense and it seems like war in inevitable. When Londo is presented with the facts, he does what you'd expect Londo to do--the absolute worst thing! When the episode concludes, the first battle of a new war is underway AND Londo finds himself in a Centauri dungeon with G'Kar! See, I told you he blew it! There is a lot of action, scheming and everything fits so nicely into place--what an exciting episode!

Beginning of the end

Others have claimed that previous episodes of season 5 are bad. I disagree. Knowing that PTEN was dying J Michael Straczynski spent time in season four wrapping up threads in case the show couldn't continue into the planned season 5. He even filmed the series finale. Since that happened much of the early part of season 5 was setup. Every episode, no matter that it seems off topic, contains seeds which are now sprouting.

This is where season 5 starts.

Yes, until now it has been garbage. And that's a huge understatement. After season 4 ends, you can start watching from here. It would be too cruel to try to fill in the gaps by exposing anyone to what season 5 has been until now. There isn't much to fill anyway.

Sheridan, Molari, G'kar and Dr. Franklin were excellent as always. A completely different caliber of actors than the rest. This episode was also blessed with less cliches than the usual fountain of tropes that died out in 70s tv shows, a common sight for the entire show. There's actually a story to care about, most of the characters have returned to their arcs and stopped becoming the mumbling idiots they've been this whole season.

This episode was a very refreshing change.
