Bold, fast and exciting

Warning: Spoilers
"Rendezvous" starts with a bang, as Vaughn gets the Rambaldi solution back but loses Sark in the process, as he was also trying to save (the disguised) Sydney who was at the same time having a fight with Dixon! Sark is captured by SD-6 and forced by Sloane to cooperate with them and lead them to Khasinau. A meeting between Sark and Khasinau is arranged in Paris, where Sydney and an increasingly suspicious of her activities Dixon must replace a blank page from another Rambaldi document with a fake one. However, Paris is also the destination of Will and Jack, who are looking for the source that is pressuring Will to expose SD-6. In a very bold and game-changing move, Will finally discovers the truth about Sydney, as she saves his life in a flurry of kicks and bullets (Sydney has rarely been tougher than she is here). Bradley Cooper gives his best performance on the show up to this point - he shows believable disbelief at what he is experiencing. All the separate story lines come together in a very exciting way. And what a shock at the end! ***1/2 out of 4.

Will learns the truth about Sydney!
Tweekums14 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The last episode ended just as it look as if Dixon was going to discover that Sydney was working for somebody other than SD-6; she managed to avoid being exposed but it looks as if he might be somewhat suspicious; especially as he cut Sydney in the fight and she showed signs of the injury when she got back. Sydney only got away because Vaughn came to her rescue leaving SD-6 an opening to snatch Sark. Once he is taken back to LA Sark tells Sloane that Khasinau will be in Paris with some Rambaldi documents; Sydney and Dixon are sent to steal them. Meanwhile Jack tries to get Will's help to expose his contact; they arrange a meeting... also in Paris! It turns out that the person feeding Will information on SD-6 works for Khasinau and he is questioned in the club that Sydney is in! She comes to his rescue and it is clear nothing will be the same for him again.

This was a thrilling episode; the scene where Sydney rescues Will was one of the most exciting yet; brilliantly choreographed fighting, a shoot out and best of all Will's reaction when he realised who is rescuer was! Jennifer Garner and Bradley Cooper were great together. When it comes to emotional acting Ron Rifkin gave a fine performance as Arvin Sloane pleads with the Alliance to let his wife die of natural causes as she is expected to die within the week; what he will do when he learns that is no longer the case remains to be seen. Without giving any spoilers I'll also say that the ending is quite a bombshell!

Friendship

All time sydney was lying but will did not care and showed understanding.

Sydney risked her life to save him also. Such friendship. Maybe more than it. This friendship reminds me the relationship between me and an old close friend of me. That is why their friendship attacts me.

Arvin also plays very well.

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU PEOPLE? (Dialog, Will)

My review of the last episode (done in real time as I am watching the whole series in order) was a little harsh. The essence of that review was that the story had become over-written, too many arcs, too many plot threads, and not enough viewer connection.

With this episode, we can see that the writers were deliberately overloading the chess board so they can make some fast moves and blow away some of the pieces.

In all my reviews, without exception, I am about connection with the viewer. That is the essence of entertainment and will remain so after both You (the reader) and I (the writer of the review) have left this good earth.

Watching JG rescue Will was pure clean unadulterated fun. Something which had been missing from the series for a few episodes.
