The transformation scene in John Landis' classic An American Werewolf in London is to this day one of the horror genre's finest moments and a true benchmark in practical effects work. Time to take a truly loving look at it!
Director Travis Betz (Joshua) got together with John's son, Max Landis (who stars in the short below), and Cinefex to do a homemade reenactment of the iconic and infamous transformation. The results are pretty friggin' hilarious. Check it out!
In case you've been living under a rock or are too young to know any better, the iconic film follows two American college students, Jack and David, as they backpack across the moors of England. On a misty, full-moon night, the men are attacked by a supernatural creature that kills Jack and taints David with its horrific curse.

In the horror musical The Dead Inside, we meet tortured young lovers Wes and Fi, and while their love for each other burns strong, artistically their hearts have been locked in a box for years. Wes is a burned out photographer paying the bills by shooting weddings, and Fi is the writer's blocked author of a series of zombie novellas called "The Dead Survive."
When Fi begins to show signs of schizophrenia, Wes does everything in his power to help her get better. Strange behaviors and breathing patterns escalate; soon he discovers that darker forces lurk inside her. Afraid and completely lost, Wes has no choice but to imprison his girlfriend until he can figure out what to do with the evil that has taken over his true love.

Wrong Turn 3 director Declan O’Brien will be previewing his new Fox DVD splatter sequel at the fast-approaching East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, to be held June 5-7 at the Jacob K. O’Brien (pictured below with friend), the director of the Sci Fi Channel original movies Rock Monster, Monster Ark and Cyclops, will debut exclusive clips from Wrong Turn 3 (about another group of lost travelers facing off against inbred hillbilly maniacs) at the convention on Sunday.
In addition to his directing chores, O’Brien has also scripted Harpies, The Snake King and Savage Planet for Sci Fi. Stop by this site again over the next couple of days as we begin posting the full schedules (auditorium panels and film programs) for the Fango show.

A panel devoted to the Canadian slasher flick Smash Cut has been added to the lineup of the fast-approaching East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, to be held June 5-7, 2009 at the Jacob K. This past week Boston was witness to the 11th annual Boston Underground Film Festival, which kicked off on March 19th and ran until the 26th. I was a part of it this year more than I had been previously, mainly because the savvy ladies and gents behind Buff asked me to be on the jury for this year’s fest! Needless to say I was honored.
This being my first jury, I didn’t know what to expect, but all in all it was a very cool experience. I got a chance to see a lot of movies I normally either wouldn’t have time for or interest in, and got a chance to expand my horizons a bit on top of all the great perks that came with being a judge.
The festival itself is run by a select group of people who have been steadily making it more...

Halloween is now literally just around the corner, and to celebrate, Travis Betz, the sick genius behind Joshua (review), one of my favorite indie horrors of the last few years, has prepared a brand new series of shorts for Atom Films!
It’s called “Bartokular” and details the misadventures of the titular monster, who keeps a trio of victims chained up in his cave. A stoner, a vegan and a God-loving Christian do anything they can to keep from having their skin torn off and eaten by Bartokular, which is just what he does to a new victim in the show’s first episode.
Of course, said victim had some killer weed on him at the time, so you can see what happens when monsters get the munchies. It’s comedy gold for anyone who loves monsters, pot and/or gory deaths!
Dig on the first episode below then head...

What, you may ask, is “Lo”? Well, it’s probably one of the coolest trailers I’ve seen in a while, even if it makes no sense at all. It’s got some great makeup effects, a cool jazz song and twisted visuals. So it’s no surprise that it’s for the new film from Joshua (review) director Travis Betz!
Some plot, if you’re concerned with such things; "Love presents many challenges to couples... but none so daunting as the one Justin faces with his girlfriend April. Kidnapped by demons, April's mystery begins to unfold when he finds an ancient book that she has left behind. Using the book, he contacts the demon Lo, ordering it to help him rescue his girl from the fiery pits. But Lo has other plans for his new master... dinner being one of them."
All right, so that’s what “Lo” is about,...
