Pie Shot the Sheriff
wes-connors12 December 2010
There are, presently, no known surviving copies of this two-reel Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle comedy series entry written and directed by Mr. Arbuckle for Paramount Pictures. This time, rootin' tootin' "Fatty" plays a Douglas Fairbanks fan who becomes a rotund version of his hero. As "The Sheriff", he must rescue abducted schoolteacher Betty Compson. Frequent co-star Buster Keaton sits this one out; his usual role is played by Monty Banks (as Mario Bianchi). "The Sheriff" was reported to be fairly typical Arbuckle stuff, resorting to familiar comedy routines, like a pie-throwing segment. Canine and racist humor are provided by Arbuckle's dog "Luke" and a "picaninny" child.

*** The Sheriff (11/24/18) Roscoe Arbuckle ~ Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle, Betty Compson, Monty Banks, Glen Cavender
