A brilliant movie
mohsinali-online29 October 2011
It is only with sheer coincidence that one comes across a brilliant piece of art like 'Rui ka Bojh.' A movie that inspires one to think about one's family and the value of relationships. I, perhaps, have come across the best work of Pankaj Kapoor, Raghubir Yadav and Reema Lagoo. The title itself is very thought provoking. An incredible script along with matchless performances - now this is what is called exceptional cinema. This movie has changed my idea of brilliance in Indian cinema during the 90s. Only DD National can come up with such masterpieces on Saturday night. Kudos to all involved. A must watch for those who are interested in some deep, meaningful movies.

A hard-hitting, thought provoking perspective on traditional family values & relationships
anu_arsh9 July 2006
While surfing the TV channels on a bored Sunday afternoon, i accidentally bumped on to this film, and then i just froze...within minutes, i found myself desperately surfing the net for more information on it!How is it that i had never heard of this movie before? Such a BRILLIANT script, coupled with such soul stirring performances by maestros like Pankaj Kapur & Raghuvir Yadav-how could i have missed it? How could anyone have missed it? I doubt it if one could easily locate the CD or DVD of this amazing movie, but if you can get one, PLEASE watch it! Movies like these are the saving grace for Indian cinema. Watch it for the gripping screenplay, impeccable direction and realistic treatment...Its simply UNMATCABLE...

Excellent Movie.. one of the rarest

Warning: Spoilers
Can't agree more with anu. That's exactly what happened to me on a Sunday afternoon when going through various TV channels i watched this movie.

one of the classics of Indian cinema. Looking at today's cinema, i wonder why such films are not made today. where is Indian cinema heading? Why NFDC does not produce such films today?

Compare this film with Dabangg, son of sardar etc. of present era and you will be clueless? I plead with producers to please, please create such movies and make the 100th years of Indian cinema a memorable one...

A hidden gem!
shirifrnz1 December 2015
I don't know how many of the Indians have even heard of this gem of a movie, let alone having been seen it. There could not be a more surreal depiction of what life can be in old age. Life does not start becoming mundane just because we've passed the reins of our lives and houses to our children. It still has its share of ups and downs. There are going to be days when we feel unwanted, a burden even. We might feel like we don't have anything to live for anymore. But most of the times that isn't how it really is.

We realize the value of anything in life once we get the fear of losing it, whether it be a of a materialistic nature or of an emotional nature. This movie succeeds greatly in raising a turmoil of these feelings within one's heart. You do realize that parents and children, no matter how much they fight or argue, are like electricity(excuse me for a lack of a better comparison) in each other's lives. We wouldn't die without it, but it's absence would be unbearable if it was taken away from us. From an Indian perspective, this movie is an amazing work of art that, if is seen by someone, can make one realize that it doesn't take much to take care of our parents after they've done it for their almost whole functioning lives.

Now, on the creative aspect of the movie-acting was as real as it could be by Pankaj Kumar, Raghubir Yadav and Reema Lagoo also portrayed their characters beautifully. The dialogs were relatable, background music was befitting and the direction was top notch. I hope that movies such as this too may be talked about when counting the gems of Indian Cinema.

This movie is not just for rural areas of india but represent the whole generic emotions of indians towards their elders. Pankaj kapoor did it really very well, respect for him.
