Night of the Cleavage with innards, bondage and Zombie Vs. Swamp Monster
brooke_gaylene25 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Story of 3 Sisters living together, 2 lesbian-ish twin blonde Sisters and their younger brunette Sister with telekinesis powers. The blonde's lure guys back to their place, mostly with their ever showing cleavage and then kill them in many different ways while their little Sister is chained up in the bedroom in case she uses her powers to control them, but also to try and stop her reading the dieing thoughts of the male victims. They then cut up the dead guys, eat parts, save some parts in the fridge and the rest gets thrown into a lake.

All this goes on and on over and over in a boring repetitive way for pretty much the 1st hour in a movie that isn't much longer than an hour. Oh and there is a rotting corpse of the cleavage Sister's dead Father at their place to watch over their antics too. To top it all off the lake where they have been throwing body parts has had some sort of toxic waste thrown into it which some how creates a swamp monster from the body parts.

I only watched this as it was listed as a zombie movie and i am trying to watch every zombie/infected movie and finally with about 5 minutes left of the movie, zombie Dad suddenly wakes up and fights swamp monster. So it's probably best to start watching about 50 minutes in to the movie because you won't have missed anything interesting before then. They should have made this a 15 minute short movie.

Overall its all bad acting, boring, repetitive, nonsense with annoying random songs.

Feels Very 70's
jfgibson7324 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Out of all the recent movies that have tried to capture the atmosphere of the 70's drive-in films--Grindhouse, House of 1,000 Corpses--this movie to me feels the closest.

The Night They Returned is narrated by a young girl whose two older sisters abduct strangers to bring home, cut apart, and eat. If they explained why they like eating people, I missed it. On top of that, the narrator (the youngest sister) is telepathic, and she has to be tied up when the killings occur. Otherwise, she receives the thoughts of suffering and goes spastic.

On top of that, the girls are disposing of the body parts in a creek where a barrel of toxic waste is leaking. At the end of the movie, the parts come alive in the form of a amorphous monster and kill the older sisters. The youngest is spared.

The story has several more ideas than the average straight to video horror film, and I kind of liked the setting. Somehow, though, it just doesn't add up to much overall. Everything feels long and drawn out. None of the actors really had anything interesting to do. Now for a silly b-movie, those criticisms probably shouldn't matter, but the bottom line was that I didn't really enjoy it much. Too bad, because reading back over the summary I wrote, it sounds like it should be pretty cool.

Blood, Guts and Gory.

First, Suzi Lorraine is excellent in The Night They Returned. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so, as she has quite the resume on IMDb. I hope she keeps it up and finds her way to Hollywood where she can really shine.

The Night They Returned is a lot of fun. That is, if you like blood and guts. I do, and apparently so does the filmmakers. This movie is just filled to the brim with disgusting stuff. It's hard to explain, but put it this way, if the show Fear Factor were a beer, it'd be lite beer, and The Night They Returned would be DARK ALE.

Excellent makeup work, especially Dad. Very realistic. Reminded me of those old horrors flicks like "Hell Night" or "Mothers Day".
