Great nostalgic game

When I noticed this fine game didn't have any comments, I felt that it was my duty to fix that.

"In a far away galaxy...An evil alien force is at work. The evil tyrant Greedy has captured the planet leaders and enslaved the population. Even the legendary hero has been captured. A desperate plea for help is made, and answered by the hero's own son...."

Is that not a great way to start a game? I had that memorized as a kid, I played this game like crazy. Earlier today I came across the ol' Genesis in a closet, and played Ristar for the first time in years. Let me tell you, it still holds up. Sure, the characters might be a bit childish. The gameplay makes it very easy to play, but that doesn't make this an easy game. Once you get past the third level or so, you realize just how deceiving a cute little mascot can be! I cant boast that I've ever beat this game so I cant comment on if it stays fresh the whole way through, but for as far as I've gotten there are lots of little tweaks in the gameplay that keep you interested and on your toes. The graphics are very good, for the time or otherwise. The boss battles are great fun, not overly challenging but still a lot of fun.

I played this game religiously as a kid, but adults can enjoy it equally. If you happen to run across this game in a used game shop or a box in your attic, I highly recommend checking it out!

RISTAR

"RISTAR" (1995) is a good slow game that requires thought. The design of the game is beautiful and the gameplay simple yet challenging. It is definitely up there with the likes of the first 4 "SONIC THE HEDGEHOG" (1991-1994) games, and "RAYMAN" (1995), as well as other gems such as "COOL SPOT" (1993), and both "EARTHWORM JIM" games (1994-5).

It's really a shame that this game went unnoticed because the story is good, it's atmospheric, and just really cool.
