Avoid At All Costs!

I just saw this film at the Phoenix Film Festival. Without much ado, I can only say it was, by far, the worst film accepted for competition in the festival. I promised out of respect for the filmmakers I wouldn't walk out of any films. I got about a half an hour through this garbage and stormed out. Completely amateurish, stupid, tedious and unlikeable. Good marketing hook though. The one tracking shot thing worked for "Russian Ark," and it got me to want to see this, but don't let it fool you like it did me. Even the director of the film said he was afraid it would never screen at a film festival b/c he thought no one would like it. He was half-right. It screened twice and literally everyone I talked to agreed it was the worst in the entire festival. How it managed to get picked amongst 600 films submitted is beyond me. If the main protagonist hadn't already been a ghost, I would have wanted all the characters to die horrible deaths so they would leave the screen, but even that was impossible. So, in a way, watching this film was a fate worse than death. Films like these are the reason I don't go to festivals much. If this film is somehow accepted into another festival and merges into one near you, take my advice and skip it. I feel sorry for anyone involved in this production or who had to sit through it. 0/10

I really wanted to like this movie, the concept holds promise. Sadly, it reeks of student film, replete with amateurish acting. The script is abysmal; characters behave inexplicably, unrealistically, leaving almost no way to suspend disbelief. The low-budget approach is admirable .. the grainy, shadowy images complement the subject matter quite well, and the budget FX (compositing, sound) are just fine. But unfortunately, in this case the content does not transcend limitations of the DV format (unlike 28 Days Later). With some script doctoring and many rewrites this film could be a contender. As is, it's unlikely to make much of an impression.

I didn't think this film was so bad when i saw it....i thought it was actually pretty good - It was scary and the guy who played Nick was kinda cute...worth seeing for him....the one shot thing was cool...I tried to figure out how he did it..if anyone knows write the message board for this film...I like the seattle location - i grew up there ..although it could have been anywhere. I hope this director will do another film because I saw talent there. He went out on a limb with the single shot idea and I really like the voice of the dead girl...not to give it away of course. I heard at the film festival that he made if for a very little amount of money. Indie filmmakers like this should be championed.

I saw this film at the Phoenix Film festival. When the director came out and talked down his film he compared the filming to The Blair Which Project. I became worried that I would hate this film, just as he said we might. However, this film is much better than the Blair Which Project. It's got a better acting, camera techniques, and a far more intriguing story. It's very suspenseful, and very character driven.

If you can't handle casual swearing don't see this film.

The biggest problem with 'I died' is it's budget. The visual quality suffers because of it, but I'm sure it would be fine for TV viewing. The acting is very natural and the plot very subtle. The director doesn't jam the story down your throat. As an audience member you have to look for what you want to get out of it, which is very refreshing. It took me a day of pondering on this film to realize how much inter-personal stuff is jammed into it.

To respond to another reviewer, the film really made me think. This is why I believe it was worthy of being in any film festival. This film is awesome for what it is and has qualities that you can't find in larger budget films. I enjoyed it and would like to see it again.
