Though the script contains some smart dialogue, the visuals lack, the acting falls at times and the point isn't sparking

A beautiful Kid tries to come across as having a good point but at the end I didn't feel as if it touched me as hard as it was trying. The script does have some good, original dialouge and the story is quite original it was just lacking simple things, which included the visuals...

High quality despite the low budget...

Beautiful Kid's script is great; the cast is incredible. The fact that this film was made on such a low budget is a wonder. It is amazing how much satisfaction can come from sitting in a theater for 1.5 hours and understanding that any other producer/director team would never have been able to pull a film like this off for a similar price tag...

One has to appreciate the raw nature of the film's appearance. It is difficult to pull off a low budget dv project that can still yield a high quality finished product. Yes, it is true that this film looks like dv and nothing but dv. However, this actually ends up helping (rather than hindering) the overall uncertainty of the film's final outcome.

Beautiful

Beautiful Kid I thought was a refreshing change from the sometimes melodramatic world of independent films. I felt it was honest and direct, and that the characters were believable. I could identify with many of the emotions the main character Sean and his friends went through, and was reminded of many people I know. The The film left me feeling of gratitude and also sadness. I felt the dialogue was realistic and funny at times and that the characters were very deep. There is a sort of iridescent feeling of doom that seems to be present in each of the characters lives. I really picked up on that, and felt the ending was appropriate to that feeling. I recommend this film to anyone interested in making their own movies. This is honest, independent film-making at it's best.

The film has alot of heart which is unfortunately absent from most films today with much bigger budgets

When the film began I was unsure about it's quality. It was really raw. But slowly, the story began to sink in and I began to get drawn into the world of Sean, Rock and Bridget as their lives began to slowly spiral downwards. These 3 friends grew up in the Irish pubs of the Bronx and because of their friendship they really rely on each other but they are beginning to use each other as a crutch. When Sean meets his old flame, Fiona, who is doing great in SF, he begins to realize that it's time to straighten up his act if he wants to get with her.

As he begins to try to clean up, his friends try to keep him by their side, because without each other, they are lost. The film is really about whether or not he can break away from his longtime friends and whether it's the right move to leave his friends and go with Fiona. The movie grabs you by the throat as it careens to the end. Hold on and let go.
