This is not a strong picture. A fight over a girl is not an especially interesting subject for a motion picture, even when laid among the picturesque scenery of Mexico, and staged with the object in view of representing life and costuming in that country. Action is important, and thrilling rescues are interesting, but a story without a point and a tale that tells nothing do not make captivating motion pictures. The producers should be commended for one thing, they carried off the man instead of the girl, and the audience is spared from seeing a girl struggling in the hands of a number of rough villains. For so much of the picture commendation cannot be too hearty. - The Moving Picture World, June 4, 1910
