A Good Family Film
AJLorimer4 May 2004
The Shadow of Light offers good entertainment for young adults and families. It tells the story of a good old-fashion adventure of two brothers and the changes that take place in them as they have to rely on each other. The film is very refreshing as it focuses on telling a story with a good moral that can be beneficial to those who watch it.

The film also offers an alternative to LDS film-making. Lately many films have emerged with LDS themes but are targeted to a more mature audience. This film is definitely aimed towards a younger audience and can be fun for the whole family.

Excellent film for the whole family

The Shadow of Light is a great video. The directors took talent and a low budget to put together an action packed video. I would reccomend this video for a younger audience. Although it is very apporpriate for families.

This video is full of action and adventure as two young men set out on a journey to find a lost treasure. There is excellent use of graphics to add to the making of this movie.

The actors do an excellent job of portraying young men that are interested in finding a treasure and at the same time they are searching for their relationship.

This is a video worth watching with the whole family.

Great story of buried treasure!

This is very much a family film, because it focuses on basic values. The plot is great, and the movie really would have been a winner, but I could not get past the acting. The actors seemed limited and awkward and I found myself focusing more on the bad acting than the great story line. the actors did not seem convinced in what they were doing, and therefore did not make me convinced that they were excited about the treasure.

The plot was a teeny bit slow at times and inhibited the flow of events. I just wanted to shout to the boys to get out there and look for the treasure themselves! I felt confused at the beginning, but it turned out okay.

All in all, I thought it was a great try, though it didn't seem right for my age group (I'm only 17, tho!). Great job!

Much Needed Family Entertainment

In a day and age with so much media that exploits immorality, The Shadow of Light is a breath of fresh air. A clean family oriented film.

The Shadow of Light is a treasure for any movie-lovers collection

This was a movie that deserves high praise. Rarely now days can you buy a film and enjoy it all the way through with family and friends, and I was grateful that Shadow of Light was recommended to me by a friend. This movie also has a wonderful moral imbedded in the action and adventure and slight romance that leaves us wondering what will happen after our hero's mission. The love of family and the need of good role models and examples in life are aspects that made this film a treasure. I would recommend this movie to anyone and hope to read more positive feedback about it from others. A great family film that's full of humor, adventure and good times. A must for any movie-lovers collection!!

A movie that any family could enjoy

The Shadow of Light. A triumph! Here is a movie that was conceived and brought to life by a master director. Despite the difficulty with his budget, talent acting abilities, and special effects, he still seems to pull off an enjoyable film for all aged viewers alike. In every sense of the word this movie was well put together from start to finish. I felt as though I was in a Hardy Boy adventure book. Two thumbs up for what was done with this movie regardless of the financial setbacks. The story plays it's cards well with an interesting mystery that lies deep in history's path. And two brothers, at first at odds with one another, discover that working together brings riches untold. See how adventure, buried treasure, love, and a little luck, makes for this great feature film.

Sibley's Shadow of Light is a great family film.

Although I'm not that old myself, I can still remember loving the "Hardy Boys" book series when I was a kid. Those books immediately came to mind while I was viewing this film. It's a good old-fashioned mystery-adventure film with solid direction and a fun plot that evokes strong family values like compassion and faith. Having some first-hand knowledge of the challenges faced by both director and crew in the making of this film, I find it encouraging that such a complete and solid piece of independent film can come from relatively tight means. The progression of the actors throughout the film is notable, and the cinematography reflects the gorgeous backdrops of southern Utah. Aside from the technical aspects, the storyline appeals especially to an audience with some knowledge of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Book of Mormon, as it refers to an interesting story found in the Book of Mormon. Also worth noting is the original soundtrack composed by a local artist especially for this film, and I know that, at least on the DVD, a music video is included.
