Pretty gross to watch if you don't like people biting their nails - good imagery though

A young boy lives a nervous life with his put upon mother and a cruel abusive father. He naturally bites his nails while listening to them fight. However his father hates the sound and takes steps to ensure his son can't bite his nails anymore.

Interesting rather than meaningful this short is shot is in nice black and white with a great sense of claustrophobia and tension. The story revolves around an abusive father and the action points to his eventual fate. It doesn't always make a great deal of sense but the visual meaning is good - with links made between blood and food etc. Like I say it doesn't really make sense but it's interesting.

The downside is that it's quite gross - the sound effects of the nails being bitten are really horrible and I had to turn down the sound to watch some of it. Overall it is interesting without making much sense and the message is too lost in the monochrome to matter. Visually it has style but not enough substance.
