Stale sequel
Spanner-226 February 2003
More of the same is the feeling here.. what worked really well as a gag in the 1st film here seems kinda stale.. a funny animated rat brings down the house with laughter but then the picture continues for awhile more, watching "Big Dave" mug for the camera. GRADE: C-

Warning: Spoilers
OK, so just in case anyone has not read my review of the first film I will again make it clear that this film is NOT an adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft short story "The Rats in the Walls".

Director Tim Everitt and actor Dave Jacobs team up once again to bring us a sequel to the original short film about a man who can hear rats scurrying about within the walls of his home - and it is driving him nuts.

Again we see Jacobs wordlessly express the emotions his character is experiencing through movement and facial expression. However, this time we do actually see one of the rodents in the film - but not in the way you may have expected. This is again a simple little comedy short - whether a sequel to the original was actually required is questionable. But a sequel we have and it is another chance for Jacobs to show off his skill at expressing emotions wordlessly. Whether the animated rat is a welcome or unwelcome addition will be down to personal taste though.
