It deserves all the positive that was said

This is the longest featurette on the 2-Disc Award Edition DVD of A Beautiful Mind. It goes over the making of it, consisting of interviews, behind the scenes footage and clips of the film. There is narration here and there, and it is a bit promotional. You can tell that this was aired on TV. Note that this documentary spoils the movie itself, and is really more for after you have watched it. They talk about the great scene at the bar, and in general visualizing Nash's mind. Howard delivers a smart analysis of the picture itself, and this ends with a senator(!) talking about the value of it, and we see Ron and Brian Grazer receive an Awareness prize for their treatment of the subject(and I refuse to give it away to anyone who hasn't seen it... if you are one of them, do yourself a favor, find about two hours that you can spare and do so). This is quite concise, it has a running time of 22 and a half minutes, and it wastes no time. Just about everything said in this is worth hearing. There is a little disturbing content in this. I recommend this to everyone who likes the flick. 7/10

I Didn't Care For the Film Much, But I've Got to Admit This is a Pretty Good "Making-of"...
MovieAddict201628 February 2003
Ron Howard and the filmmakers of "A Beautiful Mind" take us behind-the-scenes with cast and crew so we can learn the secrets to the film that won the Academy Award for "Best Film" in 2002.

I had a few nitpicks with the film myself, which you can read by clicking my username above; even I have to admit, though, that this documentary is quite informative and pleasing. The only thing I didn't care for? How much of the film they gave away - luckily, I saw the movie before watching this.

If you have the "A Beuatiful Mind" DVD, or you're going to rent it, then be sure to watch this making-of after you see the film.

3.5/5 stars -

Cliff-Notes on 'A Beautiful Mind'
Sullifilm29 June 2002
I took a look at this on the recently released 'A Beautiful Mind Award's Edition' DVD, and it was just as self-loving as the film. It gave away the entire story, so if you've rented the DVD, hit the second disc after the film. That may seem like common knowledge, but I don't think it really is.

More like an 'HBO First Look' documentary, where all you see are lots of clips, major plot points revealed (though I'm sure this was aired on Cable TV prior to the film's release), and filmmakers talking about how good and different the movie is.

Bad documentary about a sappy, overacclaimed movie from the director of 'Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas'.
