The troublesome nights continue.

The troublesome nights continue with this film, literally. The scary stuff was basically non-existent and the plot was slow. The story is basically about beauty consultants Sun (Angie Cheung) and Aki (May Kwong) transferring to a new beauty shop branch in Shenzhang. This plot element would go on forever and ever, and then it would blend into the disco operated by big mouths Brother Eight (Oni Tsuka) and Brother Nine (Mr. Nine), who are good at nothing except talking smart and flirting with girls. Then, some ghost action happens when the mysterious Mr. Cheng (Benny Lai) hires Sun to perform a make-up session on his scabbed wife. But, Sun's nightmare begins when the Chengs are actually ghosts.

Again, not much ghost action at all and the chilling, scary elements are absent. The acting was pretty bad - all these new actors trying to act cool, but in reality, their clueless. And, could the filmmakers hire a more annoying-sounding actress to play the part of Aki? What an excruciatingly high, painful voice she has! Lan Law even tried to join in the "coolness," even channeling the Weakest Link game show hostess when trying to banish a ghost. You might get a tad of chuckles here and there, but, really, it's a troublesome movie!

Warning: Spoilers
Bud Gay and Bud Yan are back again, this time in Shenzhen, helping a couple girls with their new beauty parlor. To increase business, their friends (the landlord and his pal, Mr. Nine and Onitsuke, who have been playing roles in all of TROUBLESOME NIGHT 7-11) strike on the idea to transform it into a foot massage place. They celebrate at their nightclub, but it turns out the dead like to come there to hang. A ghost possesses one of the girls, and she must go to their ghostly mansion to apply some makeup to a female ghost so that her scars don't show so badly. Spooky, I know. If you are unlucky enough to watch this film, just fast forward to around the 75min mark to see Law Lan arrive and exorcise the nightclub by standing behind a podium and shouting at one of the ghosts, "You are the weakest link. Goodbye!" I can't really say the TROUBLESOME NIGHT series keeps getting worse, its more like they keep offering different variants on the same bad.
