Good Action Adventure Movie with a Royal Backdrop
sroy-9203110 September 2017
Watched the movie recently, and loved it. The story starts with one of the sons of a recently assassinated king being found by the head of a tribal group, and raising him as his own son. The boy grows up to be the dashing Vinod Khanna. The other son of the king grows up to be the lean and fierce Danny Denzongpa. While Vinod wants to overthrow the tyrant king (Amjad Khan) who murdered his dad, Danny wants to serve his own interests. A lot of clashes later, the two find out that they are brother. They team up to fight the king but are captured by Amjad and sentenced to death. Can the two manage to fight back?

A good Bollywood masala movie, Raj Mahal manages to keep you interested in the proceedings right from the first shot. There are romantic tracks between Vinod, the real prince and the princess of the neighboring kingdom, Neetu Singh. There are clashes between Vinod and Danny. There is tension, horse chases, sword fencing, chain fights, hand to hand combat, cannons and more. I loved the action, which is brilliantly choreographed and realistic. The climax is especially brilliant, with excellent chain and sword fights against many soldiers.

Three of the tracks by Kalyanji Anandji are good - Meri Pyar Ki Awaz Pe, Maine Pee Hai Janab and Kya Se Kya Ho Jaaye. The performances are very good and earnest, with Vinod, Neetu and Danny being the soul of the film. Amjad Khan is good as the menacing villain. Comedy by Jagdeep is time-pass.

If you want to spend a good Sunday afternoon on a nice Bollywood masala movie, Raj Mahal should be your pick. A nice, good triumphs over evil, romantic adventure thriller to watch.
