daring postmodernist comedy with original narrative & style
angelpino5324 June 2005
The film is quite different from what we have seen in Latin comedies for its narrative structure and mise en scene. However it clearly succeeds in the portrait of Latin American types and costumes. The film is very funny and entertaining, full of subtle details both in language and decor. The theme of morality and sexual behavior is very well described. Some actors are very good beyond typical Latin acting style. Somehow the film reminds the early Almodovar with a touch of Buñuel but is far more interesting and flows much better than Amlodovar's melodramas. The leading male is a natural born international star that may be discovered any day.
