Another Mess-terpiece From James White
boblipton8 July 2023
Here's a movie that purports to be of a canal in part of Mexico City. I have no reason to doubt this, nor its provenance. It's a mass of movement in random directions. Contrast that with the almost triptych-like layers of movement that the Lumieres had shot four years earlier, with the varying movements divided into different parts of the frame, and you begin to understand White's ineptness, a hallmark of his movie-making.

How White came to shoot this is uncertain, but it was common for the early movie production companies to send out units to exhibit their films, and to shoot local points of interest. I imagine the action along a suburban canal is of interest, but you can't tell it from this.
