An early comical drama in the pre-revolutionary era China
zzmale8 April 2004
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Happiness comes to the Gate.

A much more proper translation of the title would be: Happiness bestowed on the family. This movie is a pioneer in the early Chinese film industry in that it was one of the first comedies made in the pre-revolutionary era Chinese movie industry.

Actually, the classification of this movie to the comedy category is not exactly correct, because it is more of drama, but it is a comic drama, or drama with comic elements in it, but then again, it is hard to figure out what was more than half a century old when you did not live through that era.
