Charles Chaplin's The Kid, Chinese version.
zzmale15 March 2004
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: The beggar princesses.

Although the plot is quite different from that of the Charles Chaplin's 1921 masterpiece The Kid, the basic idea is extremely similar. The only different thing is that the plot was altered to fit what was going on in China.

However, the movie was not as successful as it could have been because in 1938, China was already at with Japan and there are way too many refugees with the similar fate and the public was becoming desensitized to story.
